As we are now in Key Stage 2, homework will be set on a regular basis and the children are expected to complete up to 1 hour a week. This includes class tasks, as well as reading and spelling. The homework in Aquila will be set on a Monday, due in the following Monday. Where possible, guidance will be sent home to support your child with the homework. Please do email or ask one of the members of staff if you need any guidance in supporting your child.
In Key Stage 2, most children have now completed the school reading scheme and are now choosing books from the school and class library. Most children will no longer have a reading record book, but this does not mean they shouldn’t still read at home. It is really important to continue to encourage your child to read frequently; ideally daily. This can be a mixture of being heard by someone at home and reading independently. We do aim to hear your child in school at least weekly. We are not fortunate to have any volunteers to hear readers in Year 3 at the moment but we do try our very best to ensure we hear everyone through our guided reading. If you know someone who might be keen to volunteer to hear readers, please get in touch!
Please ensure your child has both indoor and outdoor kit for this half term. Our PE day is Thursday but it is helpful for kit to stay in school all week and be taken home on a Friday.
Outdoor P.E kit: Trainers are essential, a tracksuit (blue or black) and a team polo shirt.
Indoor P.E kit: Pumps, blue or black shorts and a team polo shirt.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day. They can refill it using the water coolers during the day. We do encourage the children to drink regularly.
There has been a letter sent detailing all of the swimming arrangements. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Finally, thank you for the support you give us to help your child learn and develop. If you have any questions or concerns, please do speak to any of the Aquila staff or send us an email. We can usually respond to emails very quickly. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org . If there is something you wish to discuss in more depth then do please contact the school office to arrange a meeting.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Pennells, Mrs Meah and all the staff in Aquila
