School Meals

Catering Leeds

Manston Primary is a Healthy School.  All our food is locally sourced and freshly prepared on site each day, by our dedicated team in the school kitchen.  Children can choose their own meal each day, from a menu that is rotated on a three weekly basis.  Our current menu is attached above with vegetarian options available. If your child has any dietary requirements, please let us know as soon as possible.  We will try our best to accommodate them.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2, are entitled to Universal Free School Meals (this is not the same as free school meals which are means tested).

The cost per meal for children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 is £2.40 per day, £12.00 per week.  All lunches must be paid in advance of meals taken via your ParentPay account.

Free School Meals

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

If you feel you may qualify for free school meals, please contact the school office or visit the Leeds City Council website for more information:

Medical appointments

If your child has a medical appointment and will attend school after registration, please let the school office or class teacher know.  A meal can be ordered in advance if required.

Golden Table (non covid times)

Each week the lunchtime staff select children who displayed impeccable manners and excellent behaviour during lunchtime to join Mr Clay for lunch. All children selected receive a certificate in recognition of this during our achievement assemblies.
