Teaching and Learning and Pupil Progress Committee Statement of Effectiveness
Over the past academic year, our Teaching & Learning Committee and Pupil Support Committee have each met three times. There have also been separate Governor assessment visits.
The Teaching and Learning Committee oversees and discusses any key issues relating to the school’s curriculum delivery, to ensure that it is broad and balanced and that it meets the national curriculum requirements. We also consider the School Self Evaluation Form to ensure that it is in line with the school’s vision and development plan. We review and evaluate the school's data with the Head Teacher in comparison to the national averages/guidelines. This year we also discussed changes to the format and content of pupil reporting to parent. Through these discussions we have been proactive in ensuring continuous improvement.
The Pupil Support Committee plays a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing and academic progress of our students. Through regular meetings, the committee diligently addresses key areas including attendance, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and overall pupil wellbeing. The diverse composition of governors, each bringing unique perspectives and expertise, facilitates in-depth discussions and informed decision-making. Governor visits to the school are strategically utilised to gain firsthand insights and to support and challenge our pupils effectively. This has been of note for attendance with governors receiving regular updates and attendance remaining high. The committees proactive and comprehensive approach ensures that our students receive the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Our Governors actively engage in constructive discussions, posing challenges that stimulate thoughtful consideration and strategic deliberation during our meetings.
Now combined to the TLPS committee we aim to continue to operate in the same way but with increased efficiency around overlapping areas.
