Year 1 Class Teacher (Fixed Term)

Job overview 

Manston Primary School is seeking to appoint a full-time, temporary Year 1 Class Teacher to join our team from Easter 2026 until the end of the summer term. This fixed-term role is to support the school during a period of temporary staffing arrangements linked to appointments.

The role 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Take responsibility for teaching a Year 1 class for the summer term. 

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning, with a strong focus on early reading, phonics and core curriculum expectations. 

  • Establish and maintain clear routines and high expectations that support positive behaviour and pupil wellbeing. 

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, phase colleagues and leaders to ensure consistency and continuity. 

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, supporting pupils’ learning and development. 

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Is a qualified teacher (QTS). 

  • Has experience of teaching in KS1, or can demonstrate strong understanding of early primary practice. 

  • Has a secure understanding of phonics and early reading. 

  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families. 

  • Shares our inclusive values and commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing. 

  • Is reflective, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
