School Meals at Manston Primary
At Manston Primary, we promote healthy eating and provide a balanced, nutritious meal for every child who chooses a school dinner. Meals are prepared fresh each day by our experienced catering team and served in a calm, supportive dining environment.
What’s on the Menu?
Each day, pupils can choose from:
- A hot main meal (meat and vegetarian options)
- A jacket potato or sandwich alternative
- Fresh vegetables or salad
- A healthy dessert or fruit
Drinking water is always available.

Free School Meals
Children may be eligible for benefit-based Free School Meals (FSM) depending on family income. We encourage all families who may qualify to apply—even if your child is in Reception or KS1—as this can unlock additional school funding (Pupil Premium) and support.

Universal Free Meals (Reception – Year 2)
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme. There is no need to apply—meals are provided automatically.
Paid School Meals
For children in Years 3 to 6 who are not eligible for free school meals, the cost of a school meal is currently:

💷 £13.75 per week
All payments must be made via the Arbor Parent Portal or App. Please ensure your account is kept topped up to avoid falling into arrears.

How to Pay
All school meals should be paid for using the Arbor Parent Portal or App. Arbor allows you to:
- Pay securely online
- Check your balance
- View meal charges

Allergies and Special Diets
If your child has a food allergy, intolerance, or medical dietary need, please notify the school office as soon as possible.
We will ask you to complete a medical dietary needs form, and in some cases, provide evidence from a healthcare professional. Our catering team will work with you to ensure a safe and appropriate meal is available for your child.
Allergens are managed carefully, and our kitchen team follow strict procedures to minimise risk.
Milk
School Milk
We offer fresh, chilled school milk every day through our provider, Cool Milk.
If you would like your child to receive milk at school, please register directly with Cool Milk at:

Who is entitled to free milk?

🧒 Children under 5 receive free milk through the Nursery Milk Scheme – no payment required.

🥛 Children eligible for benefit-based Free School Meals can also receive free milk – but parents must still register with Cool Milk to ensure this is arranged.
All other families can order and pay for milk through the Cool Milk website.
What happens after I register?
Once you’ve registered your child, Cool Milk will notify the school and your child will begin receiving a carton of milk each day.
