Pupils with Colds

Pupils with colds, who do not have any of the three main C19 symptoms listed below, are able to attend school. We appreciate that some of them may not feel 100% but by being present they will still benefit by not missing vital lessons and simply by being back with their class.
I understand it can be difficult to make the call to keep a child at home or send them into school currently and will happily speak to parents/carers about individual cases. If pupils have a cold and cough first thing on a morning and this stops after a short time, they can attend school. If a child has a runny nose, they can still attend school.
Having school full again is wonderful. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of lock down seems to be that pupils have not been exposed to illnesses like the comon cold. This sudden spike seems to be the same in other schools in Leeds and beyond.
Pupils should not attend school and have a C19 test if they have:
Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. A support bubble ...
If you need any help in requesting a test, please contact us. As well as the 119 telephone and online service for requesting tests, Leeds City Council also has some additional test locations that we may be able to signpost you to.
