Year 5 and 6 Whitby Trip

This event will take place between 8:30am and 5:30pm on 30/06/2025

We have once again booked our annual trip to Whitby for Monday 30th June and we are crossing our fingers for some good weather! The trip supports Year 5 with their Geography work on coastlines and provides all pupils with a memorable reward at the end of a year of hard work, particularly rewarding the efforts of our Year 6 pupils who will have completed their SATs.

The cost of the trip – which covers the cost of the coach – will be £10.00 per pupil. This can be paid on the Arbor app from today and represents a significant reduction on last year’s price due to being subsidised by school funds.

Please note that whilst this is a voluntary contribution, the cost of the trip has been worked out with every child paying the full amount. Unfortunately, if there are insufficient funds to pay for the trip then we may not be able to go ahead with this visit. Please see Mr Spinks or Mrs Pritchard if you are having difficulty making the payment.

The required consent is on Arbor, please give this when you make the payment. No child will be able to attend the trip without permission. Please also check your emergency contacts are correct on Arbor as this will be the method we use if required. If you have trouble making payment, visit the Arbor Help Pages for guidance on how to use the App/Online Portal and add no-reply@mail.arbor-education.com to your email contacts for uninterrupted communication. If you need a paper copy, please let us know.

Your child will be bringing a physical copy of this letter home today with a medical/permissions form attached for you to complete and return as soon as possible. We appreciate that this can be a little time consuming, however we have to have a completed form whenever we are doing a trip with an adventurous activity – paddling in the sea falls into this category.

On the day, please could all children be in school by 8.15 am so we can leave promptly.

The children do not have to wear school uniform, but will need:

  • sun-cream,
  • a sunhat,
  • a raincoat,
  • comfortable trainers/shoes,
  • a towel to dry themselves if they paddle,
  • a swimming costume/trunks,
  • a change of clothes and shoes in case they get wet (including underwear!)
  • optional: money for ice creams/slushies/sweets/souvenirs – a maximum of £10 would be appropriate.

They will need to carry this in a small day sack, which they can wear on their backs.

We will be leaving school at 8.30am and arriving back at about 5.30pm.

For lunch, children have the option of bringing a packed lunch on the day or they can choose to have fish and chips which we will be pre-ordering from one of the takeaways in the town. Please note this will need to be paid for separately. More details (prices and choices) to follow nearer the time.

If your child has a free school meal and you would like school to make your child’s packed lunch for that day, please let us know as soon as possible by return email.

Thank you, as always, for your support,

The staff in Years 5 and 6.
