"I really enjoyed going to Brimham Rocks because we were allowed to climb on the rocks!" Phoebe Y6

Ms Roxby's group went extreme gorge walking this morning in some very challenging conditions and then went to Gilfield Mine, they all did extremely well and pushed themselves to complete a variety of team and confidence building activities!

"My favourite thing was exploring the mine and seeing all the different types of rocks and crystals." Lucy Y6

"I really enjoyed it in the mine, we had to turn our head lamps off and arrange ourselves into age order in the pitch black!" Bailey Y6

"My favourite thing about today was mining because it was fun and exciting." Ellie Y6

Miss Racster and Mr Taylor's groups both learnt some bushcraft skills in the morning, which consisted of making some shelters followed by roasting marshmallows and popping popcorn over a fire, then making sparks using traditional fire lighting methods.

After dinner, Miss Racster's group went canoeing at Glasshouses Dam!

"I liked canoeing, me, Eden, Seren and Miss Racster all worked together to steer the canoes." Harley Y5

"My favourite thing was learning how to use a canoe." Gracie Y5

"I enjoyed popping popcorn over a fire and shelter building." Esha Y5

Mr Taylor's group went to Tom Taylor's cave and listened to stories of the legendary Victorian highway man and saw where he stashed his gold before crawling through some very tight gaps!

"My favourite thing was shelter building because my friends and I worked together to build a great shelter." Kasseykylie Y5

"My favourite thing was the cave because we got to learn about Tom Taylor." O Y5

"Our favourite thing was hosing down the children with hose pipes following the shelter building." Mr Taylor & Miss Racster

For tea we had burger and chips and a choc ice for afters, which will be followed by some orienteering skills, having a tuck shop and some downtime in the common room and then settling down for bed.

Today has been a very adventurous and exciting day for Upper Key Stage 2!

Firstly we went to the oldest sweet shop in Britain and got stocked up for the week!

Some children have been to Brimham Rocks with Mr Taylor. While they were there they spent time scrambling and climbing up and around the rocks as well as tunnelling through some very tight gaps!

Other children went gorge exploring with Miss Racster and Mrs Hall at Howstean Gorge, it's safe to say they got incredibly wet!

"My favourite thing was sliding into the gorge!" - Ethan Y6

And Ms Roxby's group went canoeing at Glasshouses Dam.

"My favourite bit was jumping in the water!" - Libbi Y6

"Our favourite bit was racing the canoes!" - Yonah & Isobel Y6

We have just had our tea (shepherd’s pie, quiche, or pasta, all with lots of vegetables!) and now we are about to spend an hour in the common room before our evening activity on the blind line!
